apple appreciation week

Maybe I jumped the gun on my apple bake-off. It was hardly apple season yet. We all know that first-of-the-season apples are lacking and if I could just harness a little more patience I would have waited until after this weekend to begin an intense week of apple desserts.

So I'm doing it again. It's Apple Appreciation Week, bitches. Because I say so.
We picked 1/2 bushel of apples this weekend (McIntosh, Macoun, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Gala and others) and I intend to make full use of them. In celebration of this new holiday I just made up in my head I will post all this week on the almighty Apple. Just so that no one thinks that Apple Appreciation Week takes off Columbus the Crook Day, I am retroactively posting for the early part of the week.

Sunday:
We pick the Apples &
feed some to the horses.
Monday:
Revisiting an new favorite, I bake Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal bars. (Pay no attention to those cider doughnuts. No, I haven't eaten nearly half a dozen already! I would never... I can't believe you would even think that. You really don't know me at all. It's over.)
So go ahead, love an apple this week. Take pictures, blog it out, stuff your face.

For those of you hecklers who feel duped by this blog's emphasis on Apples rather than sewing, I can assure you that I am working away on a glorious Halloween costume for Sister. You'll see.

  1. I love those pictures. Jonagolds and honeycrisps are my favorites.
